GOAL: ABQ BioPark is a model for sustainability
The ABQ BioPark’s Climate Action Plan builds on the City of Albuquerque’s long-standing commitment to climate leadership, including the 2021 Albuquerque Climate Action Plan. The BioPark and the CABQ Sustainability Office maintain a close partnership focused on supporting mutual sustainability and climate action targets and goals. The CABQ Energy & Sustainability Management Division also plays a key partnership role, collaborating with BioPark staff to monitor and improve energy efficiency, water conservation, and renewable energy deployment.
Recent Efforts
Energy Efficiency
The BioPark collaborated with the CABQ Energy & Sustainability Management Division to secure matching funds in support of significant HVAC control upgrades that will help BioPark facilities managers automate processes, conserve energy, and cut costs.
Waste Infrastructure Planning
The CABQ Sustainability Office’s Sustainable Waste Specialist has participated in recent efforts to baseline waste diversion across the BioPark and supported visioning for what the future of sustainable waste infrastructure will look like at the BioPark.
